The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of potential rainfall in Lahore and across the country later this month, coupled with an anticipated increase in the intensity of heat, prompting concerns about a possible heat wave in southern regions.

According to a spokesperson for the PDMA, there is a chance of light rain in various parts of the country, with northern Punjab expected to experience moderate rainfall. The PDMA has urged farmers in the Pothohar areas of Punjab to take protective measures for their wheat crops in anticipation of the rain.

In addition to the possibility of rainfall, the PDMA highlighted the risk of landslides in hilly areas, emphasizing the need for caution and preparedness among residents and authorities. “There will be an increase in the intensity of heat in the month of May,” the spokesperson announced.

“The atmosphere in southern parts of the country may lead to a heat wave, particularly engulfing the plain areas,” the spokesperson cautioned.

The spokesperson also said that big cities will specifically feel the impact of the heat wave, while the PDMA director general has directed the administration to stay alert on the weather situation.
