Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced that the repatriation of Pakistani nationals residing in Iran has formally begun, as authorities step up efforts to ensure their safe return amid escalating regional tensions.
In a statement, the Chief Minister said immigration officials at border points have been placed on round-the-clock duty to facilitate the smooth and organised return of citizens crossing into Pakistan.
He said clear directives have been issued to provide maximum assistance and necessary facilities to the returning nationals. According to official figures, more than 70 Pakistanis have so far reached home safely from Iran.
Meanwhile, 19 Pakistani students arrived at the Taftan border from Iran in view of the ongoing tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran.
Deputy Commissioner Chaghi confirmed that all students are safe and currently accommodated at Pakistan House Taftan. The students were enrolled at Zahedan Medical College in Iran. Among the 19 arrivals from Tehran, 12 are female students.
Officials said 12 of the students belong to Punjab while seven are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After necessary arrangements in Quetta, the students will be sent to their respective hometowns.
