China reaffirms opposition to use of force in global affairs

China has reiterated its stance against the use of force in international relations, emphasizing adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter, according to state media report.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

During the discussion, the two sides exchanged views on developments concerning Iran.

Wang reaffirmed that China consistently upholds the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and opposes the use of force in resolving international disputes.

The statement was reported by Xinhua, which did not provide additional details on the outcome of the conversation.
