Chairman PTI terms regime change through assassination state terrorism

Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar Khan, on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the reported martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, terming the killing of a leader for regime change a criminal act and an act of state terrorism.

In a statement, Barrister Gohar said he was deeply shocked by the news of Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom, adding that it was a day of grief and sorrow for the entire Muslim world.

He said Iran was not a threat to any country and had the right to defend itself. “Targeting a leader for the sake of regime change is a criminal act and state terrorism,” he remarked.

The PTI chairman strongly condemned the attacks on Iran and said that the prayers and support of his party were with the Iranian people. He added that Pakistanis stood in solidarity with Iran in its time of mourning and grief.

According to Iranian state media, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was martyred in the recent U.S.
and Israeli attacks. Reports said the incident occurred at his office. The Iranian authorities have announced seven days of public holiday and 40 days of mourning following the martyrdom.
