Television host Nida Yasir has clarified the decision to invite senior actors Faryal Gohar and Jamal Shah together on her morning show, despite their past divorce.
Yasir, one of Pakistan’s leading morning show hosts, has been hosting her program for over a decade and has previously faced criticism on various occasions. Her recent episode once again drew attention after viewers questioned the guest lineup.
The two veteran artists, who divorced in 1992, appeared together on the program, and parts of the conversation were described by viewers as uncomfortable. During the show, they reflected on shared memories and past experiences, prompting criticism on social media for inviting them jointly.
Responding to the backlash, Yasir said her intention was to convey that even if a relationship ends, individuals can still maintain dignity and mutual respect. She added that both guests refrained from making allegations against each other and instead presented an example of how cordial relations can be preserved after separation.
She further stated that this was the reason behind inviting them together, adding that critics may have misunderstood her intention.
