Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that India is involved in terrorism in Pakistan and is engaged in anti-Pakistan propaganda, while Israeli actions pose a threat to regional peace.
Addressing the weekly media briefing, he said Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited Doha on the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, where both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. Matters related to Afghanistan and defence were also discussed during the visit.
The spokesperson said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar has departed for Saudi Arabia to present Pakistan’s position at the extraordinary meeting of the OIC Executive Committee. He also condemned and strongly opposed Israeli measures to transform the West Bank into so-called state land.
He noted that this month marks the 19th anniversary of the Samjhauta Express attack, in which more than 70 people lost their lives. Pakistan condemned the alleged lack of accountability and the release of four individuals involved in the case, and demanded that all perpetrators be brought to justice.
The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan is not acting against the Afghan people but against terrorists, adding that documented evidence of terrorism has already been presented at the United Nations Security Council. He welcomed Qatar’s efforts for Pakistan-Afghanistan reconciliation but termed threatening statements from Afghanistan regrettable.
He affirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to respond to any threats.
Pakistan also condemned Indian actions in occupied Kashmir, particularly the killing of three young men in Kishtwar district, alleging a pattern of fake encounters and custodial killings. The spokesperson said Pakistan will continue to raise the issue at international forums and hold India accountable.
Commenting on discussions in the British Parliament regarding alleged violations of rights of Imran Khan, he said Pakistan is a party to international human rights treaties and termed such statements interference in internal affairs. He added that Pakistan is aware of security concerns for its citizens and diplomats in Afghanistan and is making efforts to ensure their safety. He clarified that the OIC emergency meeting agenda focuses on Palestine and does not include Afghanistan.
He also described the anniversary of Operation Swift Retort as a memorable military event.
Referring to defence cooperation between India and Israel, the spokesperson said Pakistan is aware of such developments and remains prepared for any threats to peace.
Commenting on protests in Israel during the Indian Prime Minister’s visit, he said it was positive that some conscientious voices still exist there.
He concluded by saying that no structured dialogue similar to Doha or Istanbul is currently underway on Afghanistan, reiterating the demand to eliminate the freedom enjoyed by terrorists on Afghan soil and urging the Afghan government to ensure protection of Pakistani diplomats and citizens, stressing that their security in Kabul remains the responsibility of the Afghan authorities.
