Pakistani actress Zara Noor Abbas has revealed that she was not allowed to begin her acting career until after her marriage, citing her father’s strict principles and family environment.
She shared these details during a recent appearance on the television programme Hasna Mana Hai. Speaking on the show, she discussed the disciplined atmosphere at home and said she had limited independence in several matters while growing up.
Zara Noor Abbas said her father did not approve of jobs that required her to leave the house frequently. She added that she was not allowed to pursue a law degree, which led her to study mass communication instead. According to her, she was also not permitted to join the media or entertainment industry without her husband’s consent, and only entered show business after receiving approval following her marriage.
The actress further shared that she is the only daughter among three brothers. She described her elder brothers as very strict, recalling that one of them would come to pick her up from university during breaks. She said she was not allowed to sit with friends, go out freely, watch films, or go shopping without permission.
Zara Noor Abbas also mentioned that she often argued with her middle brother, while her relationship with her youngest brother was different and more affectionate, saying she would tease him and treat him like a child.
