Punjab has reported 1,695 suspected measles cases in the first four weeks of 2026, with laboratory tests confirming 330 infections, according to the latest report submitted by the Directorate General of Health Services to the Lahore High Court.
The report indicates that the provincial health authorities have issued 40 measles outbreak alerts so far this year.
In comparison, Punjab recorded 23,680 suspected measles cases in 2024, of which 6,747 were laboratory-confirmed, resulting in 16 deaths. In 2025, suspected cases numbered 19,913, with 4,000 confirmed and four deaths reported.
The Health Department has intensified monitoring and surveillance under the supervision of the Chief Secretary and the provincial Health Minister. Districts have been instructed to enhance local-level tracking and hospital-based monitoring systems to curb the spread of the disease.
