KP CM says government ignoring Imran Khan’s health rights

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protest in Islamabad entered its fifth day on Tuesday, with the party continuing to demand access for its founder to personal medical care.

Talking to the media, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the government had failed to meet any of PTI’s demands regarding the health of its founder. “Our demands never included any report. Our demand is that the founder of PTI be allowed to see his personal doctor and meet his family,” he said, stressing that it is the constitutional and legal right of the PTI founder to receive treatment from his own physician. He questioned what the government was hiding by denying access to a personal doctor.

Afridi announced that the protest would continue until the demands were met. He clarified that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, citizens had staged local demonstrations independently and that the PTI or opposition alliance had not called for protests beyond Parliament and KP House.

He said decision-making authority within PTI rests with Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas, adding that the ongoing protest is being held on their call.

Regarding Alima Khan, Afridi noted that she is the founder’s sister and has no connection to PTI or politics, emphasizing that she should not be dragged into political matters.
