Pakistan team management has expressed disappointment over the failure of senior players to deliver in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and is considering key changes ahead of the must-win clash against Namibia.
Sources said the think tank is weighing the option of resting senior players, including Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, in the next match as part of a broader strategy to test bench strength.
According to insiders, two to three changes are likely in the playing XI for the upcoming fixture against Namibia. The management has begun discussions on giving opportunities to reserve players in a bid to inject fresh energy into the side.
Pakistan will play their final group-stage match on February 18 against Namibia. The team must secure a win to confirm qualification for the Super Eight stage of the tournament.
However, sources added that if the match between Pakistan and Namibia is washed out due to rain, Pakistan will still advance to the Super Eight phase.
A team spokesperson said the national squad will observe a rest day today as preparations continue for the crucial encounter in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
