Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Islamabad Model Jail and the under-construction hostel at the National Police Academy to review progress on the ongoing development projects.
According to details, the Islamabad jail project, which had remained pending for 15 years, is now nearing completion within a single year, with more than 85 percent of the work completed. The facility is expected to become functional within the next two months.
The interior minister reviewed construction progress at the model jail and inspected various barracks. He expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of work.
Mohsin Naqvi said that establishment of a modern model jail in Islamabad is essential from a security perspective. He added that development of modern infrastructure at the National Police Academy would further enhance the standard of police training.
He stated that completion of the hostel would provide improved residential facilities to police officers.
The minister was given a detailed briefing on the construction progress. Officials informed him that the jail project was initiated in 2011 but remained stalled for several years.
The briefing further stated that 85 percent work on Phase One of the jail project has been completed, and digital monitoring systems along with a central control room will also be established.
On the occasion, Inspector General Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Director General Federal Investigation Agency Dr Usman Anwar and other relevant officials were also present.
