Afghanistan’s senior all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has been fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the thrilling encounter against South Africa.
According to the ICC, Nabi committed a Level One offence under Article 2.4 of the Players and Player Support Personnel Code, which relates to failing to follow the umpire’s instructions during an international match. As a result, he has been fined 15 percent of his match fee.
The incident occurred at the start of the 14th over of Afghanistan’s innings, when Nabi engaged in a discussion with the umpires regarding the band tied on South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi’s wrist.
The high-stakes match went down to a second super over, where South Africa ultimately defeated Afghanistan, leaving the team on the brink of elimination from the tournament.
