Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has congratulated autistic children and their parents on the establishment of Pakistan’s first government-run autism centre.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Maryam Nawaz School and Resource Centre for Autism, she said that a year ago the site was just an empty plot, and seeing the first autism school established there today fills her heart with joy.
She highlighted that the centre, built according to international standards, offers all therapeutic and support facilities for autistic children under one roof. She noted that such comprehensive facilities under a single roof may be rare even globally.
“Congratulations to autistic children and their parents on the establishment of Pakistan’s first government autism centre,” Maryam Nawaz said. She praised Provincial Special Assistant Saniya Ashiq for her leadership and dedicated involvement in the autism school project.
The chief minister added that 70 specially equipped buses are being provided across Punjab for children with special needs. She appreciated all those who contributed to the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz School and Resource Centre for Autism, emphasizing that this journey must continue.
Maryam Nawaz further said that easing people’s difficulties brings her personal happiness. She also mentioned that former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif shares her happiness over the centre’s establishment.
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed his pleasure at the creation of such a large institution for autism treatment in Pakistan, congratulated the parents of autistic children, and assured them that the state stands with them in challenging times.
