Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Khadija-tul-Kubra Mosque in Islamabad, which was targeted in a recent terrorist attack, and condemned the incident as an act of extreme brutality.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said there could be no worse example of barbarity than the attack on a place of worship. He termed the incident a conspiracy aimed at creating division in society, adding that such designs had failed.
Shehbaz Sharif announced financial assistance of Rs5 million each for the families of those martyred in the attack. He also declared compensation of Rs3 million for each critically injured person and Rs1 million for those who sustained minor injuries.
Later, the prime minister visited the residence of Aoun Abbas, who was martyred while attempting to stop the suicide attacker. He paid tribute to the bravery of the deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
