Pakistan witnessed two major milestones during their T20 World Cup 2026 match against the United States as opener Sahibzada Farhan and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi achieved landmark feats.
Sahibzada Farhan entered the match with 969 runs in 40 T20 International innings. He reached the 1,000-run mark by smashing a six off the last ball of the fifth over against Milind Kumar, becoming the 10th Pakistani batter to achieve this milestone in men’s T20I cricket. He joins an elite list alongside players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, and Shahid Afridi.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, who made his T20I debut against the West Indies in 2018, played his 100th T20 International during the match, becoming the seventh Pakistani player to reach this landmark. Prior to the game, the team congratulated him, with a memorable moment captured as fellow fast bowler Naseem Shah presented him a commemorative cap. The Pakistan Cricket Board posted the image with a caption noting Afridi’s achievement of 100 T20I matches.
In his first 99 T20 Internationals, Afridi has taken 129 wickets at an impressive average of 21.34, including two four-wicket hauls, while scoring 307 runs with the bat.
Looking ahead, Farhan stated, “The match against India will be just like any other. We will play in the same way,” signaling Pakistan’s focus on consistency and performance in the tournament.
