Just a week after announcing his retirement from playback singing, India’s renowned singer Arijit Singh performed live in Kolkata alongside sitar maestro Anoushka Shankar and percussionist Bickram Ghosh.

According to Indian media reports, during the performance, Arijit admitted he was quite nervous, but the enthusiastic applause from fans immediately put him at ease.

The trio delivered a memorable 20-minute set, which has since gone viral on social media. The highlight of the evening came when they performed “Maya Bhora Raat”, a Bengali composition arranged by the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar.

In a viral video, when Anoushka Shankar invited Arijit on stage, he humbly addressed the audience, saying, “I am very nervous. Thank you for inviting me here.”

Reflecting on the performance, Anoushka shared her excitement on Instagram, calling it a “great moment” to see Arijit bringing her father’s Bengali music to life.

Arijit Singh had announced his decision to step away from playback singing on January 27, expressing gratitude to fans for their continuous support over the years and describing his film music journey as “wonderful.” He said the decision was made after careful consideration.
