U.S. President Donald Trump has extended his best wishes to the American cricket team participating in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, being jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I just heard that the Cricket World Cup is underway in India. I wish the American cricket team the very best.” He added, “We have a very strong team. America is praying for your success.”
The T20 World Cup features 20 teams from around the world, with the United States among the competitors. In their first group match, India narrowly defeated the USA by 29 runs. Despite a strong showing from the American side, India avoided a major upset thanks to an excellent batting performance by Surya Kumar Yadav.
Trump’s message highlights growing international attention on the U.S. cricket team as it competes on the global stage.
