The first nationwide anti-polio campaign of 2026 concluded with the vaccination of more than 44.1 million children across the country, officials said.
According to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), the six-day campaign successfully reached children under the age of five in all provinces and regions as part of Pakistan’s continued efforts to eradicate poliovirus.
In Punjab, more than 22.9 million children were administered polio drops during the campaign. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded vaccination of around 7.1 million children, while Sindh reported coverage of over 10.4 million children.
In Balochistan, approximately 2.324 million children were vaccinated. The campaign also covered more than 455,000 children in Islamabad, over 261,000 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and more than 673,000 children in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The NEOC urged parents to ensure that no child is missed, stressing that repeated vaccination is essential to build immunity against the virus. It said families can contact polio teams by calling the helpline 1166 or by sending a WhatsApp message to 0346-7776546 for guidance or complaints.
Health authorities reaffirmed their commitment to achieving a polio-free Pakistan through sustained vaccination drives and community cooperation.
