Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday announced a reduction in electricity prices for industries, cutting the tariff by Rs4.04 per unit in an effort to provide relief to the industrial sector and boost production. Addressing a ceremony held in honour of leading exporters and business figures in the federal capital, the prime minister said the decision was aimed at supporting industrial growth and strengthening the national economy, sources said.

The prime minister said the government’s role was not to run businesses itself but to create a conducive environment for economic activity. He stressed that sustainable economic stability was not possible without industrial development, adding that the government was taking measures to facilitate industrialists and investors.

Shehbaz Sharif said it was now essential to steer the country towards growth and that suggestions from the business community would be given due importance. He described traders and industrialists as the backbone of the economy and said their experience would be utilised in formulating better economic policies.

The prime minister further said the government would ensure consultation with the business community while shaping economic policies so that decisions reflected ground realities. He emphasised that mutual trust and continuous engagement were key to putting the economy on the right track.

During his address, the prime minister also said cooperation between the political and military leadership had opened new avenues for national development. He said all institutions were on the same page and that the positive impact of this harmony was becoming evident in the economy and business environment.

Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing challenges faced by industries, saying the reduction in electricity prices was part of broader efforts to stabilise the industrial sector and strengthen the national economy, sources said.
