Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi is due to pay a visit to Türkiye on Friday amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, Turkish media reported on Thursday.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to emphasize that Türkiye is closely following recent developments in Iran and to underline that Iran’s security, peace and stability are of great importance to Ankara, the report said, quoting Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.
He is set to reiterate Türkiye’s opposition to any military intervention against Iran and warn of the regional and global risks that such a step could entail. Fidan would also convey Türkiye’s readiness to contribute to resolving current tensions through dialogue, to support reaching a peaceful solution to Iran’s nuclear program as soon as possible, and to offer assistance if needed. The visit comes as U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that a “massive armada,” headed by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, is heading toward Iran, warning that “time is running out” for Tehran to make a deal with the United States.
