ICC to review accreditation for Bangladeshi journalists after T20 World Cup row.

Tensions have risen between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Bangladesh after reports emerged that Bangladeshi journalists were initially denied accreditation for the T20 World Cup.

Sources said the ICC has now asked journalist representative bodies to submit a list of reporters seeking coverage, and the accreditation process for Bangladeshi media will be restarted, at least for matches in Sri Lanka.

Earlier, over 100 Bangladeshi journalists had applied to cover all matches, including those in India, but were reportedly denied accreditation. The Bangladeshi media said none of their journalists were approved for either India or Sri Lanka.

A senior Bangladeshi journalist told media that ICC normally grants accreditation to associate member journalists even if the team does not play, highlighting perceived inconsistencies.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Media Committee chairman, Imzad Hossain, confirmed that 130 to 150 journalists had applied, but their requests were rejected.

Bangladesh had refused to travel to India citing security concerns and requested that their matches be moved to Sri Lanka. However, the ICC denied the request, opting to include Scotland in the tournament instead.

Bangladeshi journalist associations have said they will soon announce a plan of action regarding the accreditation issue.
