World No. 4 Novak Djokovic made history at the Australian Open by securing his 100th match victory in the tournament.

Djokovic defeated Spain’s Pedro Martinez in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2, in a match that lasted just over two hours. Speaking after the match, Djokovic said, “Today’s performance was excellent. I have no complaints. My service was very good.”

According to BBC Sports, Djokovic added that starting a tournament strongly is always a challenge, as it sends a clear message to both oneself and opponents. He described achieving 100 wins at the Australian Open as a “pleasant feeling” and said creating history motivates him, especially in the last five to ten years of his career when he realized he could break records and elevate his game.

The 38-year-old Serbian is also pursuing his 25th Grand Slam singles title. His overall Australian Open record now stands at 100 wins and 10 losses, having previously won the title 10 times. Djokovic also holds 102 wins at Wimbledon and 101 wins at the French Open (Roland Garros).

By competing in his 21st Australian Open, Djokovic has equalled Roger Federer’s record for the most appearances at the tournament. Additionally, he is playing his 81st Grand Slam, sharing the record for the most Grand Slam appearances with Roger Federer and Feliciano Lopez.
