The Peshawar High Court has issued a written order regarding a petition against the sharing of immoral content on TikTok, directing the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to submit a detailed report on measures to block such content.
According to the order, the court sought information on the firewall and other mechanisms used to prevent the circulation of obscene material on social media platforms.
The petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that a new authority has recently been established to regulate social media. The court allowed the inclusion of this new authority as a party in the case and granted time for a response.
The lawyer argued that TikTok is being used to share immoral content and that live sessions feature inappropriate language and acts, negatively impacting society.
The court has adjourned the hearing for further proceedings until February 11.
