Rain-bearing system to enter Pakistan tomorrow

2 min read

A rain-bearing weather system from the west is expected to enter Pakistan on Thursday, raising the possibility of rainfall in the upper parts of Punjab, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

According to the PMD, severe cold and dense fog continue to affect Lahore and most parts of Punjab, while intermittent cloud cover has added to the chill. The combination of fog and clouds has further intensified cold conditions across the province.

Weather officials said the incoming system is likely to bring rain to hilly areas, including Murree and the Galiyat region, rather than the plains of Punjab. Lahore and other low-lying areas of the province are expected to remain dry.

The Met Office reported that the minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded at 3.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 14 degrees Celsius during the day.

The PMD said that over the next 24 hours, Lahore and the plains of Punjab are unlikely to receive any rainfall. Cold and dry weather is expected to persist, with foggy conditions continuing during the morning and night hours.

Authorities have advised commuters to remain cautious due to reduced
visibility in fog-prone areas, particularly during early morning and late-night travel.
