Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its “evergreen” friendship with China, describing the bilateral relationship as one of mutual trust, respect and enduring strategic partnership.

During a meeting with Jiang Zaidong, the two sides exchanged views on the strength of Pak-China ties as well as key regional and global developments. Sadiq said China has remained Pakistan’s close and reliable partner, standing by the country during every testing time.

Highlighting the depth of cooperation, the speaker said collaboration between Pakistan and China in the economic and defence sectors was commendable and continued to play a vital role in promoting lasting peace and stability in the region. He described the two countries as strategic partners that have stood shoulder to shoulder in difficult moments.

Recalling past milestones, Sadiq said Xi Jinping’s address to a joint session of Pakistan’s Parliament during his previous tenure as speaker was of historic significance, underscoring the political and symbolic weight of the relationship.

Ambassador Jiang appreciated the sentiments expressed by the speaker and said the peoples of Pakistan and China were bound by strong bonds of friendship. He noted that the bilateral partnership continued to grow stronger with each passing day.

The meeting reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to further strengthening cooperation across multiple domains. — LORD
