The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has announced the first national polio vaccination campaign of 2026, scheduled to run from February 2 to February 8. The campaign will be conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Officials said the drive will target 45 million children across Pakistan, with more than 400,000 polio workers involved in administering the oral polio vaccine. Authorities urged parents to fully cooperate with polio workers to ensure children are protected from lifelong disability caused by the virus.
The NEOC highlighted that last year five national polio campaigns were successfully carried out, resulting in a significant reduction in polio cases. The upcoming campaign is part of ongoing efforts to achieve a polio-free Pakistan.
