FWO clears snow from Khunjerab Pass amid harsh winter

1 min read

Despite severe winter conditions, Frontier Works Organization (FWO) teams are working tirelessly to keep key mountain routes open, ensuring smooth commercial activity and public access.

Sources said the FWO successfully cleared the critical Khunjerab Pass, situated at an altitude of 15,397 feet between Pakistan and China. Using advanced snow-clearing machinery, FWO crews have maintained the Karakoram Highway open to all traffic even at temperatures dropping to minus 20 degrees Celsius.

Heavy machinery has been deployed to remove snow promptly, enabling uninterrupted movement for both public commuters and commercial convoys. Officials said keeping highways open during extreme cold demonstrates FWO’s professional capability and commitment.

Maintaining accessibility on challenging mountainous routes not only facilitates public convenience but also highlights the significance of Pakistan-China trade, reflecting the country’s unwavering commitment to national development.
