Cold and dry weather prevailed across several cities of Balochistan on Wednesday morning, with sub-zero temperatures recorded in parts of the province, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The Met Office said that cold conditions are expected to persist in most districts of Balochistan, while northern areas will continue to experience severe cold. It also forecast partly cloudy weather in the northwestern districts of the province.
According to official data, the minimum temperature in Quetta was recorded at minus 4 degrees Celsius, while Kalat reported a low of 6 degrees Celsius. Ziarat remained the coldest area, with the temperature dropping to minus 5 degrees Celsius.
In Zhob, the minimum temperature was recorded at 3 degrees Celsius. Sibi saw a low of 7 degrees Celsius, while Turbat recorded a comparatively milder minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office said the temperature in Nokkundi fell to 1 degree Celsius, while Chaman recorded a low of 2 degrees Celsius. In the coastal belt, including Gwadar and Jiwani, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius.
The PMD advised residents, particularly in northern and high-altitude areas, to take precautionary measures amid the prevailing cold spell.
