The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to announce the national team for the scheduled T20 series against Sri Lanka in the first week of January.
According to details, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are set to play three T20 matches on January 7, 9, and 11 in Dambulla. Selectors have already started consultations on player selection for the series.
Shadab Khan, who impressed in the Big Bash League after overcoming fitness issues, is expected to feature in the series against Sri Lanka.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Hasan Ali have been granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to play the complete Big Bash League matches. Their replacements for the Sri Lanka tour may include young performers such as Abdul Samad and Moiz Siddiqui.
The PCB is also required to submit the preliminary squad for the T20 World Cup before January 6, with changes allowed until February 1. It is noted that both India and Sri Lanka have already announced their squads for the upcoming World Cup.
