Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar has said that digital media played an effective and important role during the recent tensions between Pakistan and India.

Speaking at the CPEC Media Forum, Tarar emphasized that discouraging negative propaganda, fake news, and disinformation is a key priority. He called for greater cooperation in the media sector, especially in digital media, to tackle challenges posed by fake news and misinformation.

The minister highlighted the strengthening of the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China over time. He said both countries are committed to increasing collaboration across various sectors, including media. He described Pakistan-China friendship as historic, exemplary, and enduring, noting that the two nations have supported each other through difficult times.

Tarar also discussed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), calling it a game-changing project that has promoted economic growth and created significant social impact. He added that CPEC is helping connect multiple countries and fostering regional development.

Addressing the challenge of distinguishing between disinformation and fake news in the current era, Tarar noted that Digital Pakistan TV has been launched to effectively highlight Pakistan’s stance on global platforms.
