Pakistan Under-19 cricket team mentor and former national captain Sarfraz Ahmed broke his silence on Monday regarding India’s behavior during the Asia Cup 2025 final, describing it as unsportsmanlike and contrary to cricketing ethics.
The remarks came after the Prime Minister hosted a reception to honor Pakistan’s victorious U19 team, with Shahbaz Sharif personally welcoming all players. Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi, federal ministers, and cabinet members were also present.
Speaking at a media briefing after meeting the Prime Minister, Sarfraz Ahmed said that India’s conduct during the match was inappropriate. “The Indian team’s behavior on the field was not correct, but we celebrated our victory with sportsmanship, as cricket should always be played with respect and integrity,” he said.
He emphasized that while competition is central to cricket, ethics and respect should always take precedence.
The comments follow Pakistan’s emphatic 191-run victory over India in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup final held in Dubai on Sunday, thanks to an outstanding innings by Samir Minhas, securing the trophy for Pakistan.
