The Islamabad High Court has imposed heavy fines on police officers involved in the abduction of a woman and her minor daughters from Lahore and Bahawalpur, ordering departmental action against those responsible.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani announced the reserved verdict, with the detailed judgment to be issued later. The case stemmed from a dispute involving former PIA CEO Musharraf Rasool, citizen Waqas Ahmed, and Suhail Aleem.
The court directed the termination of the case registered against Waqas Ahmed and Suhail Aleem at the Tarnol police station.
The investigating officer of the case was fined Rs100,000, while each police officer involved in the Lahore raid conducted without a warrant was also fined Rs100,000. Authorities said Waqas Ahmed’s wife and their three daughters were brought to Islamabad by police from Lahore.
The court further directed the Islamabad Inspector General of Police to initiate immediate departmental proceedings against all involved personnel and submit a report on the actions taken.
