The Directorate General of Passports has introduced a new digital system to monitor passport applications, printing and service delivery, aiming to improve transparency, efficiency and response time across the country and abroad, official said.
On the directives of the Director General of Passports, a dedicated 24/7 monitoring room has been established at the department’s headquarters. Officials said the facility will oversee daily operations through a fully integrated digital dashboard designed to evaluate performance and identify operational gaps in real time.
Under the new system, passport applications and deliveries can now be tracked from submission to final issuance, both within Pakistan and at overseas missions. Authorities said real-time monitoring will help ensure timely processing and improve accountability at every stage.
The monitoring framework will also automatically detect crowding at passport offices, allowing authorities to take corrective measures to manage public rush. In addition, staff performance, passport printing processes, backlog status and machinery operations will be monitored through a network management system.
DG Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi said the modern monitoring mechanism would significantly enhance the overall performance of the department. He said the system would enable continuous oversight of officers and staff while also tracking citizen flow at passport offices.
According to officials, a rapid response mechanism has also been introduced, allowing identified issues to be addressed immediately after detection, with the goal of providing faster and more reliable passport services to the public.
