Morocco’s Elyoussouf Abdelmajid wins Sukkur International Marathon

Morocco’s Elyoussouf Abdelmajid won the second Lok Seha International Marathon held in Sukkur, completing the 42.195-kilometre course in two hours, 22 minutes, and 35 seconds, organizers said.

The marathon began at IBA Public School and featured participation from 28 international athletes representing 10 countries, including Italy, Canada, Japan, Morocco, and the United Kingdom, alongside 3,000 runners from across Pakistan.

Ethiopia’s Methiro Nebro finished second, completing the distance in two hours, 28 minutes, and 48 seconds, while Kenya’s Jackson Maina claimed third place with a time of two hours, 31 minutes, and six seconds.

In the women’s 10-kilometre race, Kenya’s Meuni Mutoko secured first place, finishing in 40 minutes and 25 seconds. Japan’s Yuko Luguchi finished second in 40 minutes and 49 seconds, while Lahore’s Mahnoor Afzal took third place, completing the race in 43 minutes.

The marathon winner will receive a cash prize of Rs1.5 million, and the top 20 finishers across the event will also be awarded cash prizes, officials said.
