The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have decided to procure additional modern weapons and surveillance equipment to strengthen counter-terrorism operations across the province, according to official documents.

The documents reveal plans to purchase 50 Beretta sniper rifles, 100 additional sniper rifles, and 1,250 modern automatic weapons known as TWS. The force will also acquire 430 thermal binoculars to enhance night-time and low-visibility operations.

As part of the surveillance upgrade, 73 surveillance drones will be procured for the KP Police, along with 330 thermal TI cameras. To counter aerial threats, 14 additional anti-drone guns will also be purchased.

The documents further state that four search drones will be acquired, while 20 advanced bomb disposal suits will be purchased to support counter-terrorism operations. For search and raid activities, the police plan to buy 1,000 Sparta cameras. In addition, 6,000 bulletproof jackets and 6,000 bulletproof helmets will be procured to improve personnel safety.

Vehicle protection is also part of the plan. According to the documents, the front windscreens of 39 police vehicles and five double-cabin vehicles will be bulletproofed. The force will also acquire 210 B7-level armored vehicles and 1,200 operational armored vehicles. Side armoring and body fabrication for police vehicles will also be carried out.

Officials said the procurement aims to enhance operational readiness and protect personnel amid evolving security challenges, particularly in counter-terrorism and high-risk operations.
