In a historic Big Bash League (BBL) match on Friday, Brisbane Heat defeated Perth Scorchers by eight wickets in a record-breaking encounter that saw multiple milestones set.
Perth Scorchers batted first, posting a massive 257 for 6 in their 20 overs, with Finn Allen scoring 79 and Cooper Connolly contributing 77.
Chasing 258, Brisbane Heat reached the target in the final over’s fifth ball, losing just two wickets. Jack Wildermuth remained unbeaten on 110, while Matt Renshaw scored 102. This marked the first time in BBL history that two centuries were scored in a single innings.
Wildermuth and Renshaw shared a 212-run partnership, the largest in Big Bash history. The match also produced a combined 515 runs and 36 sixes, setting a record for the most sixes in a single BBL game. The 258-run target was the highest successfully chased in BBL history and the third-largest in T20 cricket globally.
