Pat Cummins matches Imran Khan’s captaincy record in tests

1 min read

Australian captain Pat Cummins equaled former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan’s record in Test cricket, achieving 150 wickets as a captain.

During the Ashes series at the Adelaide Test, Cummins claimed the wicket of England’s Joe Root for the 13th time in red-ball cricket, the most by any bowler against the English batsman. Cummins took three of England’s six wickets in the match, surpassing Mitchell Johnson to become the sixth-highest wicket-taker for Australia in Test cricket.

The milestone also marks Cummins’ 150th wicket as a Test captain, joining Imran Khan, who previously held 187 wickets in this category.

Cummins had missed the first two matches of the series due to injury, making this achievement even more significant.
