The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered drugs worth over Rs77 million during a nationwide crackdown on smuggling, officials said. Two suspects, including a woman, were arrested in three separate operations, and a total of 33.62 kilograms of narcotics were seized.
In the first operation at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, authorities recovered 14.912 kilograms of ice hidden in a passenger’s clothes destined for Jeddah. ANF said the timely action prevented the drugs from being smuggled abroad, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The second operation took place at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, in the cargo shed. Inspecting a parcel bound for the Philippines, authorities discovered 13.350 kilograms of ice concealed in clothing. Acting on confidential information, ANF successfully thwarted the smuggling attempt.
The third seizure occurred near the Tarnol Toll Plaza, Rawalpindi, where a female passenger was found carrying 4.800 kilograms of hashish. Officials said she was attempting to transport the drugs from one location to another and was promptly arrested.
The ANF spokesperson confirmed that all seized narcotics were taken into custody and cases have been registered against the suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997. Further investigations are underway.
Authorities emphasized that anti-drug operations will continue nationwide without exception and strict legal action will be taken against those involved in narcotics smuggling.
