Popular morning show host Nida Yasir has come under criticism after making remarks about food delivery riders that sparked widespread debate.
Yasir had commented that “food delivery riders often deliberately do not carry change to get higher tips,” suggesting that customers either keep exact change ready or ask riders to bring extra money.
Her statement triggered strong reactions from both social media users and delivery riders, who argued that they work under challenging conditions, including harsh weather, difficult routes, and personal risk, often for low pay.
Riders emphasized that tipping culture is weak and companies provide limited support. Many said that if customers ever lack exact change, they personally contribute 10 to 20 rupees to complete the payment, making accusations of dishonesty particularly hurtful.
Delivery riders have demanded a public apology from Nida Yasir on her show to address the controversy.
