The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced that local government elections in the federal capital will take place on 15 February. Polling is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the commission.
The Election Commission stated that returning officers will issue public notices for nomination papers on 19 December. Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers from 22 to 27 December.
Under the schedule issued by the commission, scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out from 30 December to 3 January 2026. Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed between 5 and 8 January, while tribunals will decide these appeals from 9 to 13 January.
The last date for withdrawing nomination papers is 15 January 2026. The final list of contesting candidates will be displayed on 16 January, the same day election symbols are to be allotted.
According to the official schedule, polling for the Islamabad local government elections will be held on 15 February, and results will be compiled between 16 and 19 February.
