Punjab police foil RAW-linked terror plot, arrest 12 suspects

1 min read

Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has foiled a major terror plot, arresting 12 suspected militants allegedly linked to India’s intelligence agency, RAW, in raids across Lahore, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur.

Officials said the operation led to the seizure of weapons, explosives, detonators, IED devices, safety fuses, mobile phones, and cash. Investigators also recovered images, videos, and location data of sensitive sites, including a local seminary and a public festival.

The CTD said suspects arrested in Faisalabad were allegedly planning to incite panic and stir sectarian tensions in Punjab. Those detained in Lahore include Sukhdeep Singh, Azmat, Faizan, Nabeel, Abrar, Usman, and Sarfaraz, while Danish was arrested in Faisalabad. In Bahawalpur, four suspects Rajab, Hashim, Saqib, and Arif were taken into custody.

Authorities traced the network through a Facebook account named “Adil,” which they allege was operated from India. Officials also noted that one suspect, Sukhdeep Singh, had converted from Christianity.

The CTD claims the group received substantial funding from RAW. Cases have been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
