The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised its earlier decision regarding the recovery of 60 billion PKR from RLNG (Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) consumers, offering significant relief to the sector.
According to OGRA, the adjustment covers the period from April 2015 to June 2022, during which temporary RLNG prices had previously led to disputes over actual charges. Under the new framework, consumers will pay the amount in 24 monthly installments, with late payment surcharges waived.
OGRA added that in cases of genuine financial difficulty, consumers may request special installment plans from SNGPL, although any future delay or default will attract late payment fees in line with company policy.
The relief benefits key sectors including power generation, export-oriented industries, fertilizer producers, and the CNG sector, allowing them to settle their share of the 60 billion PKR over two years without additional charges.
The decision comes after years of disputes over RLNG pricing. OGRA had earlier determined the actual price difference at 59.8 billion PKR, comprising 51.3 billion PKR in differential gas charges and around 8 billion PKR in GST, excluding any late payment penalties.
