The Punjab government has announced a strict crackdown across the province to enforce the one-dish rule at weddings and other events, while curbing the unnecessary use of loudspeakers, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif issued directives to all commissioners and deputy commissioners, instructing them to ensure compliance with the one-dish policy at all ceremonies. She also ordered strict action against high-volume music and the illegal use of loudspeakers, including during qawwali nights and other events.
Authorities said the measures will extend to farmhouses and open grounds, which will now face the same restrictions as wedding halls regarding loudspeaker use. Compliance with the one-dish policy in these venues has also been made mandatory.
In addition, wedding halls will be monitored closely for timing and noise violations, and government officials will not be allowed to attend events where these rules are breached.
Officials stated that the initiative aims to reduce noise pollution, curb unnecessary expenditure, and ensure better discipline at wedding celebrations across the province.
