The Federal Ombudsman has ordered an investigation into the alleged unlawful offloading of 25 passengers at Karachi Airport who were scheduled to travel to Turkey for employment, officials confirmed on Friday.
The complaint, filed by Overseas Employment Promoter, stated that on November 5, the passengers were prevented from boarding their flight despite having complete travel documents. The passengers were to depart from Karachi instead of Punjab, which reportedly prompted verbal objections from the FIA.
The complainant highlighted that proper procedures, including the Protector of Emigrants clearance and the Foreign Service Agreement, were in place. No official stamp or receipt was provided for the offloading, raising concerns over the legality of the FIA’s actions.
The Federal Ombudsman has instructed the Director General of FIA to submit a detailed investigative report by December 15. The Director Karachi Zone has been directed to compile the report and submit it through the Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis to the Ombudsman.
Authorities stressed that the investigation aims to ensure accountability and prevent misuse of power in handling overseas employment cases.
