The Meteorological Department has forecast light rain and snowfall in northern areas of Pakistan starting December 5. According to the weather alert, a weak western disturbance will affect the northern regions from the night of December 4 to December 5.
Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience light rain and snowfall. Areas including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, and Battagram may also see rain or snow during this period. Other regions are expected to remain cold and dry.
Dense fog and smog are likely to persist in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Narowal, and Gujranwala may experience severe fog in the morning hours. Peshawar, Mardan, Sawabi, and D.I. Khan are also expected to face reduced visibility due to fog.
In Babusar and surrounding areas, snowfall may lead to slippery roads and possible blockages. Daytime temperatures in the upper regions are expected to drop by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
