Three police officers were martyred in a terrorist attack targeting a police vehicle in the Paniala area near a degree college in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to police, terrorists had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) on the road, which detonated when the police vehicle arrived. Following the explosion, the attackers opened fire on the officers, martying Assistant Sub-Inspector Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq, and Constable Sakhi Jan. The attackers fled the scene, and a cordon-and-search operation has been launched in the area. The bodies of the martyred officers were transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, expressing deep grief over the deaths and praying for the martyrs’ elevation in rank. He directed that injured personnel receive the best medical care and vowed that the fight against terrorism would continue until the menace is eradicated, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the attack, paying tribute to the bravery of the martyred officers. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of Gul Alam, Rafiq, and Sakhi Jan and acknowledged the sacrifices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police personnel, assuring that their sacrifices will not go in vain.
