A deadly gun attack claimed the lives of the Assistant Commissioner of North Waziristan and two police personnel, along with another civilian, when unidentified assailants opened fire on their vehicle on Miranshah Road.

Police said on Tuesday the AC’s official vehicle came under sudden fire near the flour mills area. The attackers shot the occupants at close range, snatched weapons from injured staff, and later set the vehicle on fire before fleeing.

Rescue teams and police contingents reached the scene shortly after the assault, collecting forensic evidence while shifting the bodies and injured to the hospital.

According to initial reports, four people were martyred in the attack, including the Assistant Commissioner and his two police guards. Authorities are still confirming the identity of the fourth victim.

The brazen strike has triggered intense security activity in the area, with police launching a search operation to trace the attackers.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the attack, expressing deep grief over the loss of lives. He directed the Inspector General of Police to submit a detailed report and vowed stern action against those involved.

“This cowardly act cannot shake our resolve. The sacrifices of our martyrs will never be forgotten,” the chief minister said, adding that the fight against terrorism would continue with renewed determination.

Afridi also instructed health authorities to ensure immediate and high-quality medical care for the injured.
Security officials say investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the ambush and identify the perpetrators.
