ATC orders defreeze of Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Namal University accounts

1 min read

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has ordered the defreezing of bank accounts belonging to Shaukat Khanum Hospital and Namal University. The decision came during the hearing of a case related to protests on November 26 against Aleema Khan.

The proceedings were presided over by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah. Lawyers representing Shaukat Khanum Hospital appeared in court, while government prosecutor Zaheer Shah stated that no formal written request had been submitted to freeze the hospital’s accounts.

He added that the freeze of Aleema Khan’s personal bank accounts had been carried out after her CNIC number was sent to the State Bank, which led to the closure of all accounts registered under her ID. Prosecutors did not raise any objections regarding the defreeze of the hospital and university accounts.

After hearing arguments, the court directed that the bank accounts of both institutions be restored, ensuring that normal financial operations could continue without disruption.

The case remains under close observation due to its public and institutional implications.
