The inaugural International Quran Recitation Competition concluded in Islamabad, attracting participants from 37 countries. The prize distribution ceremony at the Convention Center began with a recitation by Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali.

Addressing the event, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yusuf welcomed international participants, emphasizing Pakistan’s role in promoting Quranic knowledge. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said the competition reflects Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen unity among the Muslim Ummah, urging youth to deepen their connection with the Quran. He added that the holy book teaches peace, justice, mercy, and cohesion, and its guidance should inform governance and daily life.

In the competition, Malaysian Qari Aiman Rizwan bin Muhammad Ramlan claimed first place and was awarded PKR 5 million. Iran’s Qari Adnan secured second place with PKR 3 million, while Pakistani Qari Abdul Rasheed took third, earning PKR 2 million. Other top positions included participants from Afghanistan (fourth), Indonesia (fifth), and Morocco (sixth).

The prizes were presented by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Minister Sardar Yusuf, marking a successful launch of Pakistan’s first international platform for Quranic recitation.
