Under the “Safe Punjab Vision,” the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has introduced a new feature allowing citizens’ mobile phones to act as live cameras for the Safe City control room, enhancing emergency response and public safety.
The initiative, integrated into the Safe City Public Safety app, enables residents to share live video feeds from their phones directly with authorities during critical or emergency situations. When citizens call the emergency helpline 15, Safe City officers can send a secure link that connects the mobile camera to the control room in real time, providing officers with immediate visual assessment of the situation.
PSCA officials said the system is designed to reduce response times and ensure timely intervention. Citizens are urged to keep mobile location services on and use the feature strictly for genuine emergencies, avoiding non-essential video sharing.
Authorities highlighted that the measure empowers residents to actively assist in public safety while enabling authorities to respond faster to incidents across the province.
